Synopsis
Discovering the evolution of cinema is a fascinating adventure.
From the first experiments in capturing moving images to the contemporary digital age, there have been many technological advances and changes in styles, genres and forms of exhibition and consumption.

It is possible to find in the films of a particular era a direct reflection of the context in which they are set and, symbiotically, to recognise that the main film movements had a significant impact on social habits and, consequently, on the development of the language, aesthetics and narrative of future productions.

In a programme with projections that embrace and seduce us, we will travel through all these moments, where the ‘classics’ multiply - iconic works, eternalised in popular culture. Although the means of creating them is constantly changing, with successive creative and technical revolutions that reinvent and challenge conventions and pre-established limits, presenting new challenges and opportunities, the common principle remains: tell a good story.

This is a proposal to better understand and get to know this art of watching, letting your emotions be aroused by the magic of cinema.

ART IN COSMETIC MEDICINE
The cult of beauty and the slavery of the image - New trends

Room: Sala Casino Azores
Data: 11 april 2025
Hour: 3:30pm

The concept of beauty, both in the philosophical and aesthetic sense, has evolved over the centuries. But one common denominator, which cuts across all eras, is the search for symmetry and, above all, balance.
When we talk about Aesthetic Medicine, the search for external balance (Beauty) is closely linked to strengthening the self, to psychic empowerment.

But fast-paced contemporaneity, external pressure (peers, social networks...) and changes in ‘conventional’ reference standards can lead to narcissistic disturbances that translate, for example, into weaknesses in self-esteem and self-perception disorders such as body dysmorphia.

In this context, the ‘aesthetic’ doctor is once again consigned to a holistic reality in which he is obliged to combine science and art. Art in the strict sense, as if he were sculpting the faces he works on, but also in the search for a balance between the psychic and the clothed skin. After a period in which exaggerated aesthetic procedures prevailed, he is ethically ‘obliged’ to defend the ideology of ‘less is more’.

In this talk, we'll have an in-depth and unconventional debate on these topical issues.

We look forward to seeing you!
